Smart meters

Liverpool Energy Community Company offer smart meters to new and existing pay-as-you-go customers.

We want to give people a better option and will offer all those on old PAYG meters the opportunity to have a smart PAYG meter replacement.

What are smart meters?

Smart meters connect wirelessly to both LECCY customer services and an In Home Display unit (IHD).

The IHD unit sits in your home and allows you to see in real time how much energy you are using which gives you better control over your energy use.

This means that it’s much easier for you to top-up and to control your energy use.

Why choose smart meters?

Many pay-as-you-go customers find going to the shop to top-up their prepayment meter key really inconvenient.

Smart meters connect wirelessly to LECCY customer services and our smart pay-as-you-go payment services, which means you can top-up over the phone and online. This means no more last minute runs to the shop or running out of energy during a busy evening at home.

What can smart meters do for you?

  • More control over your energy use – smart meters enable you to keep an eye on your household energy use and control those energy guzzling areas and appliances by using them more efficiently.
  • More control over your energy spending – your smart meter will display your credit levels and can be programmed to warn you if you’re approaching a credit limit.
  • Flexibility to top-up – your smart pay as you go top-up card can be used to top-up online, over the phone or at your nearest PayPoint retailer.

Top up options

Your minimum top-up per fuel is £5 so you’ll need to top-up £5 on gas and £5 on electricity to get started.
